A unique space wrapped in the beauty of
traditional Chinese architecture.
| Historical Story |
A Shrine dedicated to Confucius, the Chinese philosopher who lived from 551 BC to 479 BC. It was built in 1893 by Chinese residents of Japan in cooperation with the Qing dynasty of China. The 72 wise men statues were imported from China, along with the pillars, stone paving, etc. The style is as traditional and enchanting as the main temple in China.
▲Come and experience the meditative and peaceful atmosphere of traditional China while in Nagasaki. A truly unique experience of being in two places at the same time. Entertainment and performances for special ceremonies and events are available, the Face Changing show being a must-see option.
In Japan, there are a number of Confucius shrines, but the Nagasaki one is known as “the most spectacular” of them all. Its biggest attraction is that it can be used as a unique venue with its traditional Chinese atmosphere and architecture. The square, lined with 72 statues of wise men, will transport you to the land of The Last Emperor. In addition, you can enjoy the very popular Face Changing show and other perfomances, along with catered meals. It is also a perfect spot for seeing Nagasaki’s unique “cultural gradation” from Shinchi Chinatown and the Confucius Shrine to the foreign settlement.
