The former residences of foreign merchants such as Glover, Ringer, and Alt, who came to Nagasaki during the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, have been preserved. The historic buildings have been relocated to Glover Garden and is now an open-air museum.
▲For an unforgettable and impressive gathering, Glover Garden has a variety of outdoor venue areas such as Square in front of the statue of Miura Tamaki, the former Mitsubishi No. 2 Dock House area, the Event Plaza, the Fountain of Prayers, and the Former Steele Memorial Academy. For indoor venues, the Nagasaki Traditional Performing Arts Center, with an area of about 400 ㎡ is also available.
A mix of Western, Chinese and Japanese influences have created a culture unique to Nagasaki thanks to the exclusive influx of foreign culture. Glover Garden, where the residences of foreign merchants are gathered, is a place of great historic significance.
