Experience the unique world that is the foundation of Nagasaki’s culture.
| Historical Story |
Dejima is a man-made island in the shape of a fan. It was the only port open to Europe for over 200 years during Japan’s isolationist period. Japan’s modernization began in Dejima as many new things were imported through trade with the Netherlands.
▲A unique and exotic atmosphere. Immerse yourself in a retro-modern atmosphere that is both unusual and yet familiar at the same time. Relax at “The Nagasaki International Club Dejima Restaurant,” where Nagasaki dishes are made with local ingredients from the prefecture.
Nagasaki City has been engaged in the Dejima Restoration Project for a long time. Some of the buildings have been fully restored and are open to the public. The main street is lined with warehouses and buildings where the trading company staff lived. Experience the atmosphere and the activities of Dejima as well as the style and decor of the times, for example in the “Chief Factor’s Residence” used by the head of the Dutch trading post. In addition, “The Nagasaki International Club Dejima Restaurant,” serves a menu unique to Nagasaki.
